What is a Conceptual Dictionary?
The Conceptual Dictionary is a collection of definitions that are defined and include a digital image selected because it represents the term being defined. Check out the sample digital conceptual dictionary (MOV file), Using Forester's Tools, which shows tools foresters use to measure trees on tree farms. The movie presents the tool being used and the name of the tool.
At this level, the writing requirements are minimal--the student is simply describing the picture selected for illustrative purposes. There is no evidence of sequence or of story development. Great tool for vocabulary development.
